Mr. Lou Burgess

Dear Lou:

On behalf of myself and the 12 member facilities of Region II, National Association of State Veterans' Homes (NASVH), I wish to express our profound appreciation for your superb presentation on September 28th at our annual Fall Conference.

Given our uniqueness as State/government operated Veterans nursing homes, that are also highly dependant on federal Veterans Administration funding and support, I know that it was difficult to prepare an educational program that would meet our needs and satisfy our diverse audience. Your presentation, the Leadership Challenge in Long Term Care, provided exactly what we had requested and needed.

Your extensive knowledge of long term care issues, nationwide, combined with you highly professional and entertaining delivery, resulted in one of the most valuable management leadership educational programs I have attended (among dozens in the past 25 years). Despite the difficulty of keeping an audience alert for 4 hours, you ably acquired their undivided attention and provided several real-world solutions to the problems we face on a daily basis. Most of the attendees expressed their appreciation and attested to the obvious excellence of your presentation and its immediate value to them. My counterparts have asked for specific information regarding cost and other planning factors, and I anticipate that you will be asked to provide similar presentations at Veterans Homes in the States.

Again, thank you for coming to Indiana and contributing to one of the most successful conferences ever conducted in our region. I look forward to seeing you at other NASVH and state Nursing Home Association conferences in the future.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Hawkins
Superintendent
Indiana Veterans' Home
